Diogo Dalot, who joined Manchester United from Porto earlier this summer, has told 'ESPN' that not only did he turn down Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona in order to make the move to Old Trafford, but that it was an easy decision to do so.

United boss Jose Mourinho demanded various new summer additions as he looked to build a squad capable of closing the gap on reigning Premier League champions Manchester City, but was made to do with just Dalot, Fred and Lee Grant.

Nevertheless, Mourinho was clearly happy with those addition, describing Dalot as "the best full-back in Europe at his age".
Now, the prickly Portuguese canny also be confident as to the commitment of his new recruit after Dalot revealed he turned down two of the biggest clubs in world football to join United.

"At the end of last season I knew a move here was possible. Now I just want to start playing and go as far as I can," he enthused.
When asked about the interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona, Dalot response was firm. "It was a dream come true [to sign for United]. The decision was an obvious one, it's one of the bigest clubs in history," he declared.

Still just 19, Dalot only played eight games (588 minutes) for the Porto first team last season, providing one assists. He featured much more prominently with the club's 'B' team, racking up 2 0 games (1,666 minutes) and scoring twice.

With age very much on his side and with a huge amount of potential to call upon, Moutinho is optimistic of making his fellow countryman a fixture in the United side for years to come.

A knee injury has so far prevented Dalot from making his United debut, but he is believed to be closing in on a return to full fitness.
