Barcelona spokesperson, Josep Vives, gave a press conference in which he reported on the latest agreements of the Board of Directors and reviewed current topics surrounding the 'Blaugrana', one of which is Leo Messi.

The absence of Leo Messi in the list of candidates for the 'The Best' award continues to raise questions in Barcelona . At the club, of course, they are clear that the No. 10 is the best in the world.

"We have to be clear thar he is the best player in the world and in history. He shows this in every game and so we are not interested in this subject (of not winning an award). We know who Leo is and he doesn't need an award to show this" , said 'Culé' spokesperson Josep Vives.

It remains to be seen if, in a few months, Messi will add another Ballon d'Or to his trophy cabinet. Apart from the UEFA and 'The Best' awards, the Argentinian has the most coveted prize for footballers; although it seems that Cristiano Ronaldo, Antoine Griezmann and Luka Modric are ahead of him this season.

Vives, in addition, reviewed what happened with Pique and the Municipal Police of Barcelona, comparing the case with that of Salah, who was sanctioned by Liverpool for similar conduct: "We respect what Liverpool have done, but what happened to Pique was in his private life. It will be sanctioned properly and the person already knows, the club has its internal code".

Vives overlooked the possibility of a knee injury to Arturo Vidal, arguing that the club does not have "any medical report" and that the footballer passed a check-up "with all the guarantees", siding with Abidal and the matter of his transplant: "We are on the side of Abidal's honesty".

He defined Barca's economic situation as
"excellent" and hinted at the desire of Barcelona to be the protagonist in the matches that La Liga is going to organise in the United States. "This match has not been fixed (Girona-Barcelona) in the club's agenda, but we do know that the club is in favor of playing a game in a strategic market such as the US", admitted Vives, who said it was important to "avoid conflict with players or partners".
