Phyno, born Chibuzor Azubuike on October, 9th 1986 in Enugu State as the fourth child in a family of five children. He hails from Anambra State but live most of his childhood life in Enugu. 

In his music "chibuzor" kind of intro. He made know he spent most of his time in abakpa nike, enugu state.

He studied Public Administration at the Institute of Management and Technology in Enugu.

Though phyno started his music career as am music producer he became a household name in 2014 after his hit song Ghost mode was relaeased featuring Yoruba rapper, Olamide which earned massive audience.

Phyno released His first debut studio album,"No Guts No Glory", in 2014 which earned him a global spot and served as his starting point. It produced the singles "Ghost Mode", "Man of the Year", "Parcel" and "O Set".

Music career

Started as a music producer but was advised by friends to pursue his talents of rapping, Phyno took after the method of rapping in his Language(igbo) and has distinguished himself with his style of rap.

Major turnout for the rapper came when he relocated to lagos in 2010 though then as a producer, he worked with different artists such as Timaya, Flavour, Ruggedman, Bracket, J. Martins and Mr Raw and slowly he climbed to the top after choosing to become an indigenous rapper.


Phyno studied Public Administration at the Institute of Management and Technology in Enugu while still into music industry and started profiting from music during his second year at IMT.

Rise to Stardom

On 25 September 2012, he released “Ghost Mode” as the lead single of his ‘No Guts No Glory’ album. The song features Olamide and was released to critical acclaim.

It won Best Collabo at both the 2012 The Headies Awards and 2013 Nigeria Entertainment Awards. The music video for “Ghost Mode” was shot and directed by Clarence Peters and released on 7 December 2012.

Sputnet Records released the album’s second single, “Man of the Year (Obago)”, on 23 March 2013. The song, which was produced by Phyno, won the Best Rap Single category at the 2012 The Headies Awards. It’s music video was uploaded onto YouTube on 20 August 2013.

It was also shot and directed by Clarence Peters in Abakpa Nike, and features a cameo appearance from Illbliss. However, in September 2013, the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation banned the music video from being broadcast.


Phyno's Show "Phyno Fest" held anually is one of the biggest show in nigerian pulling thousand of fans and supporters yearly.
